I’m a big fan of New Year’s Resolutions and I’ve become pretty good at achieving them. I say ‘them’ because I usually set myself at least 5. I start thinking about them around October time, I have absolutely no idea why. #52pieces is one on this year’s list.
Last year, as I began to start a list I also picked up my brushes again after almost a year. The break was completely unplanned, it just happened and I think it’s because every time I tried to paint something it went terribly wrong.
Either consciously or unconsciously, one of my New Years Resolutions for 2018 is to start, and more importantly, finish 52 pieces before the end of the year and it’s proving a little harder than I thought but I’m not panicking for two reasons.
Firstly, I got off to a very, very slow start and just as I got into my stride 4 things hit me at once. After 14 months without treatment (apart from self-medication), I was offered a course of Radiotherapy, An EU Directive landed in my lap and non-compliance carries an unlimited financial penalty, I moved house and my daughter got engaged.
Having got to grips with that lot, which all hit me in the same week, I’m back in my stride and that’s why I’ve been able to finally get this blog going (another resolution!).
At the moment I’ve finished 10 pieces and have another five in various stages of completion. Although I am behind, I’m not as far behind as I thought I would be.
In other news…and completely randomly, if you’ve ever thought of going to Rome, many friends asked me what I thought of it. I got so tired of telling them I, posted a page here. Hence the image at the top.
